Military Capability Gap Matcher is a public alpha for exploring how industry solution descriptions can be matched against public military and national-security capability needs.

Origin
The project began at the Critical Ops: A DC National Security Hackathon as a rapid prototype for making scattered public capability-gap signals easier to search, compare, and discuss.
The first version focused on a practical question: can public solicitations, challenge posts, topic releases, and defense-oriented analysis be normalized into a searchable corpus that helps people find relevant mission needs faster?
Public Alpha
Version 1.0-alpha is intentionally labeled as an alpha. The source set, ranking logic, topic model, and AI summaries are still evolving.
The tool is not official, not a procurement system, and not a substitute for reviewing the original source records.
Useful Feedback
- Sources that should be added.
- Searches that produce surprisingly good or bad matches.
- Capability gaps that are too broad, too narrow, stale, or incorrectly extracted.
- Ways the AI summary could be clearer or more useful.
